Our 4th Grader and her entire grade took an all day field trip this week from Fargo all the way to Bismarck, North Dakota (a 3 hour bus ride each direction!) to visit our State Capital, the North Dakota Heritage Museum along with going to Fort Lincoln State Park where we saw General Custer's old homestead along with the On A Slat Indian Village. They had been studying this as part of their civics program and it was great to see all of the kids apply their book knowledge to seeing everything in a real life setting where they could look, touch and better understand the formation of North Dakota.
While touring inside the Custer homestead the guide asked if anyone played piano and our daughter's hand shot up - she was lucky enough to be able to sit down at a 100+ year old piano to play Yankee Doodle Dandy for the crowd! I also spied a reproduction cross stitch wedding sampler for General and Mrs Custer - how great is that!
I figured that I would share a quick tour with all of you as well - hopefully the sheer scope and size translates through my photos - enjoy!
